How Do Virtual Art Classes Work?
Virtual Art Classes are held LIVE.
Most online classes are pre-recorded, and that's a one-way output where feedback is limited. All of our virtual classes are interactive, and held LIVE through password protected video conferencing. Because our classes are not pre-recorded, each classroom is as unique as the students in them!
Feedback is the key to growth.
Our students receive individual feedback and critiques -- either live, through screen share, or during the week in Google Classrooms. 💬 This feedback loop is the key to artistic growth because it offers insights 💡 on where to improve, what to practice, and how to reach your goals. This is an example of a private online critique from our Cartooning & Anime class:
Virtual Class Platforms
We're currently using 8x8.vc video conferencing to bring our virtual studio to you. We use Google Classroom to update our students on art resources and materials. We also use it to provide flexible options for individual feedback on art assignments and critiques.
What do I need to get started?
You'll need a Gmail address to access Google Classrooms. After you register, we will send you a class code to join. This Gmail cannot be an existing school email or work email. Sign up for a Gmail account in minutes.
Computer / Laptop / Chromebook OR a tablet / iPad / smartphone using the 8x8 app. Download it on the App Store or Google Play. If you're using a computer, Google Chrome is the best performing browser. Download Chrome
Internet Connection - Virtual classes, like video games, are best experienced on a fast and reliable internet connection.
Web Cam (optional). A web cam allows a student to face time their teachers and peers. It also allows them to show their work live. However, students may still participate live through voice chat or typed messages in the classroom chatbox. Participants have the option of turning off their web cams whenever they choose.
Headset (optional). A headset includes headphones and a microphone and allows for better sound quality. It also reduces sound feedback and echoes. Students have the option of muting themselves whenever they choose.

Virtual Art Class FAQ
Refunds & Missed Classes
Students who are unable to attend the live class may make it up later by watching a recording. They can complete the lesson on their own time, and submit it for a live (or private) critique the following week.
Can Siblings attend together?
Absolutely! Siblings who want to listen in may do so for 15% off the second student if they are sharing a Google Classroom account and computer. However, the instructor would only provide feedback to the student who is enrolled. If siblings are attending from separate computers, they must both pay for the class, as bandwidth and class ratios are limited.
