🔎 Virtual Class Details
The purpose of art is to make people feel things! In Digital Art Mentorship, students will learn how to make readers laugh, cry, and shiver with the art of character design, comic panel creation, and storytelling through narrative illustration.
In this virtual class, you can build your illustration portfolio and develop your own art style with the guidance of an experienced professional illustrator. With the help of your mentor, you’ll master the art of digital illustration and comics. This online art program focuses on the technical aspects behind panel illustration in both black and white and full colour, plus writing techniques.
🤓 What to Expect in Class
Suitable for teens and adults, students may choose their own subjects and get personalised guidance and feedback from their mentor. Each class combines live group critiques and step by step demonstrations in digital illustration.
This class mimics a college art course but is customized to each student’s learning goals. Your illustrations, stories and ideas are given a chance to flourish, evolve, and be discussed with others. You may even request custom demonstrations and lectures on certain topics or techniques that interest you!
Mentorships aren’t just about learning how to create digital art, but also about learning how to navigate the art world with an instructor that has already done so. You’ll be given a place to explore your artistic passions while learning valuable information about digital illustrations, portfolios, careers, and art opportunities.
📚 Curriculum / Learning Goals
Students will focus on creating a personal body of work with the guidance of a skilled professional digital illustrator.
Digital Illustration & Comics topics may include:
Setting personal goals and digital art challenges
Group critiques and feedback on personal projects
Character design based on visual storytelling
Page layout design and typesetting
Advanced cartooning, stylization and posing
Digital rendering techniques and colour theory
✍ Art Materials
This program is taught step by step using digital mediums. Student are welcome to use whatever digital program they are most comfortable with, and traditional mediums are also welcome!

Equipment for Virtual Art Classes:
For the best online experience, we recommend using a webcam and mic so our teacher may provide instant feedback. Students without a webcam/mic may use text chat, and get individual feedback online through Google Classrooms.
