In the summer, Markham's Art Hub transforms into the Kids' Art Hub! Campers will enjoy countless innovative art projects, observe step-by-step demos, experience outdoor art, creative games, and artistic adventures with new friends!
With a jam-packed summer ahead, our specialty drop-in art programs allow your kids to join the fun and express their creativity when it works for you! An unforgettable summer awaits.
Full Day: 9am - 4pm | Half Day AM: 9 - 12 PM: 1 - 4
Extended care: 8:30am - 5:30pm

Cartooning & Fantasy
Jul 2 - 5 (4 days)
Dragons and monsters and mermaids, oh my! Leave the real world behind and dive into the realm of fantasy and mythology. This week, we’ll go on a magnificent cartooning adventure with popular characters, legendary creatures and more! Campers will learn to draw characters step by step, invent new fantastical worlds and explore popular mythologies.
Cartooning & Comics
Jul 8 - 12
This is THE camp for cartoon and comic book lovers! Kids will learn to draw their favourite characters and superheroes step by step! We'll discover how to draw figures in action as well as comic book making techniques such as storyboarding, shading and colouring. Learn the process for character design, make a zine, and create your own original cartoon character!
Jul 15 - 19
This week we’ll get our hands messy and explore the exciting world of painting! Kids will learn a variety of techniques in watercolour, ink, and acrylic including colour mixing, brushwork, blending and layering. Lessons in the morning are step by step, and in the afternoon campers can choose their own subjects. We’ll also explore painting on a variety of different surfaces, including natural objects, plexiglass, and more!
Art with Live Animals
Jul 22 - 26
This week we will explore art inspired by the animal kingdom. Special guests Sadie and Pongo (the studio dogs) will be joining us for the entire week of camp! With the dogs as our models, we’ll learn how to sketch live animals to understand proportion, gesture and movement. Kids will also create pieces inspired by exotic jungle creatures, nocturnal critters, ocean dwellers and more!
Sculpting & 3D Art
Jul 29 - Aug 2
This week, we’ll take our art into the third dimension! Campers will investigate the wide world of sculpture and 3D art by experimenting with clay, plasticine, natural objects, fabric and more. We’ll explore fantasy worlds, miniatures and even create a collaborative board game! Campers will also experiment with repurposed materials to create an awesome upcycled work of art.
Cartooning & Anime
Aug 6 - 9 (4 days), age 5 - 7 | Aug 19 - 23, age 5 - 7 | Aug 26 - 30, age 8 - 14
Calling all Anime and Manga lovers! This week is all about learning cartooning and anime techniques.. Kids will sharpen their drawing skills by recreating their favourite characters, step by step, We’ll also learn how to turn real people into cartoon versions of themselves, design mashups with characters in pop culture, create paintings and puppets, and discover cartoons from around the world.
Art in Motion (Animation)
Aug 12 - 16 | age 8 - 14
This week our art will come to life! Kids will learn the basics of animation and work together to create a collaborative stop-motion movie. We’ll explore how to draw people and animals in motion, simple storyboarding, scenery design and more. Campers will get to create their own characters using techniques such as drawing and sculpting. A great camp for cartoon lovers who want to go behind the scenes to see how they’re made!
